Homework

H O M E W O R K

Your child will becoming home today with their homework folder. Inside you will find:

  • Name writing practice; Please take the time to practice your child's name writing each day. Those children who can already write their first name, should begin practicing their last name. Please ensure that letters are being formed correctly and watch how quickly your child will progress with their name writing.

Reception High Frequency Words; Staring with set 1 please familiarise your child with their words. Once they can read these confidently and out of order you can move onto set 2 then set 3 and so on. In the Spring term we will be doing spelling tests based on these words, so it is important that these are visited frequently.

Sound recognition card; These are written in the order they will be taught in our RWI lessons. Please ensure your child is being familiarised with the letter sounds and not just letter names. You will find videos on this on our Phonics session of the class page. Alphablocks is a great programme for your child to watch that will help them revisit these sounds and practise blending and segmenting.

Number recognition; This grid can be cut up to make 20 smaller cards. These can then be used for number recognition, matching numerals to quantity, ordering etc.

Your child also has an Education City login on a small piece of paper please keep this in a safe place we will be using this at a later date.
