Safeguarding at Pelsall Village School

At Pelsall Village School our Motto is Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day. We believe that everyone has a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children to keep them safe and to practise in a way that protects them. We will give equal priority to keeping all children safe regardless of their age, disability, race or belief, sex or sexual orientation. Whilst keeping children safe is our duty and responsibility, keeping children safe is also aligned to our desire for all children  in our school to thrive and flourish under our care.

Pelsall Village School has a strong culture of safeguarding that permeates throughout the whole school. We provide a restorative and nurturing environment in which our children can flourish. We are of the belief that 'I could happen here' and 'we have the interests of the child as a priority. Children feel safe at our school, we know this as they tell us and have shared this with Ofsted and other visiting professionals. Staff are highly trained and experienced in  identifying the signs of change within our children and will report and discuss the changes directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead-Mrs Bignell-Page or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead-Mr Bagley. Our staff continue to work sensitively and pro-actively with a high number of children who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in their lives. This requires an adaptable and committed team approach within school and co-operative, respectful working relationships with families and external agencies.
