Autumn Term
We have a very busy term planned ahead. We will be learning all about Autumn and all the different signs to look out for. We will use the story ‘The Little Red Hen’ to help us learn about harvest and why it is an important celebration as well as having our own Harvest celebration in school where we will sing songs we have learnt.
The focus story ‘Room on the Broom’ will lead us nicely into Halloween and bonfire night around half term, where we will be joining in with familiar parts of the story and learning about Halloween, having a school disco. We will also be exploring natural materials when we make our own wand and developing our oracy skills in our role play area.
We will learn about why we celebrate Remembrance day, we will even take a stroll into the village to look at the special display, as well as other crafts. Children in need will also be celebrated this half term completing lots of fun activities to develop our fine and gross motor skills. We will also be learning about other celebrations when we take a look at Diwali.
We will have another focus book ‘Stick man’ including lots of role play and small world fun acting out the story. We will even think of our own ideas we could use the stick for. As well as make our own edible and natural material ones.
The end of the term will be spent practising for our Nursery Nativity and learning all about the true Christmas story. We may even have the odd visit from Santa.
