Spellings
This term we are learning about:
Maths
In Maths we look at different areas throughout the week, which could be, number, fractions, calculation and measurement. We continue to use a challenge based system and work through the level of difficulty suited to each child. We then follow up with either a DIRT or MUD question the following week. On Fridays we go over CLICs, Learn Its and SAFE from Big Maths.
Reading
This term we are reading the book 'The Leopard in the Golden Cage' by Julia Edwards where we will use different skills such as retrieval, inference and prediction. Lots of reading at home will support the children's work in school!
Writing
Our writing this term will be focused on writing a persuasive advertisement based on the story of James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. We will also be writing a letter of complaint and a non-chronological report based on one of the characters that feature in the Harry Potter books. At first, we will explore the text before focusing on sentence structure and word levels. In our final weeks we will be writing and editing our final pieces.
Science
In our science lessons this term, we will be learning all about properties of materials and reversible and irreversible changes.
Geography and History
Our geography this term will be focusing on 'Waterways' looking at the water cycle and then a particular focus on comparing rivers and canals. We will be looking at the River Trent and Trent and Mersey canal.
Our history this term we will be looking at 'The Great Depression' that took place between the World Wars and looking at Al Capone.
