Summer Term Timetable - 5W.pptx
Spellings
This term we will learning:
Maths
In our maths lessons we will be working on the different areas of maths, these are, number, fractions, calculation and measurement.
We use a challenge based system where we work through the levels of difficulty which is suited to each child.
Following each lesson we fix any 'marvellous mistakes' with a DIRT or MUD to secure understanding.
On Friday's we challenge ourselves with our CLICs, Learn Its and SAFEs from Big Maths.
The children will be bringing their CLICs, Learn Its and SAFEs home for you to see and so they can complete as homework, this will support their understanding and progression.
Reading
This term we are continuing to read a book called, 'Boy in the Tower' by Polly Ho-Yen
We will be using a variety of skills such as retrieval, prediction, inference and discussing new vocabulary.
Reading a lot at home will also support the children's work in school.
Writing
Our writing this half term will be focused on a re-tell of the water scene in the book, 'Friend or Foe' written by Michael Murpurgo.
We will also be writing a balanced argument based on decisions the two main characters have to make in the book, 'Friend or Foe.'
At first, we will explore the text before focusing on sentence structure and word levels. In our final weeks we will be writing and editing our final pieces.

In our science lessons, this term, we will be learning all about life cycles and reproduction.
Geography & History
Our geography this term will be focusing on, 'World Climate Zones' and 'Grid referencing'
