This half term, we will be learning about textiles by designing and making our own hand puppets using a running stitch.

Through our D.T lessons, children will be developing:

- Sewing skills – threading and using a running stitch

- Evaluation – reflecting on their work and suggesting improvements
- Creativity – designing unique and imaginative puppets
๐ก How You Can Support at Home
You can support your child’s D.T learning with simple activities:
- ๐งต Practise threading using string and beads or large needles (with supervision)
- โ๏ธ Encourage cutting and crafting with different materials
- ๐จ Draw and design ideas for toys or puppets
- ๐งธ Look at toys at home and talk about how they are made
- ๐ชก Try simple sewing such as stitching card or fabric (with support)
- ๐ฌ Talk about their designs – ask who it is for and how it will be used
