We had a great time today supporting the Mayor's charity 'WPH'. Year 6 challenged the Mayor and the Mayoress to an arithmetic test. All those children equalling or bettering the Mayor and Mayoress' scores gained the opportunity to squirty pie our visitors as part of the Mayor's commitment to his charity.
Thank you for supporting us with your donations.
16.3.18 - Y6 Praise Trip
Year 6 have been working so hard towards their End of KS2 SATs, Miss Thompson and Miss Proffitt felt they deserved a treat.
To tie in with the Aardman Animation 'Early Man' workshops this week, the children asked to go to the cinema to see the 'Early Man' film itself.
Mr Bagley agreed for school to pay for the tickets but money was still needed for the transport. So last Friday, Year 6 held a cake sale and raised a massive £184 - just what was needed for the coach!
In the meantime, one of our Year 6 children, Finlay Taylor decided to take part in a 'sponsored silence' by himself as he wanted to also help raise funds for the trip. Finlay has now raised enough money (with a little help from his family) to purchase sweet treats for all of his fellow Year 6s.
On behalf of Pelsall Village School -Thank You for all your hard work and good luck in your SATs.
But a very special 'Well Done' to Finlay, we are very proud of your selfless act of charity.
Monday 19th to Friday 23rd March 2018
Are you up for the challenge - John O'Groats to Lands End?
You may be aware that there has already been some high profile cycling fund raising events taking place recently for Sports Relief 2018.
At Pelsall Village School we would also like to take part too and have very kindly been offered the use of a cycling machine for next week. It will be placed in the reception area with a flip chart to record distance cycled to see if we can 'make' the journey from John O'Groats to Lands End - all 874 miles!!!
We will allocate time slots each day according to interest shown.
If any children (and staff) would like to put some miles on the clock, prizes will be given for the greatest distance in each age group. (Mr Britton has an age bracket of his own!)
£1 donation through SQUID to take part -Thank you!
We have been aware of this app. Please discourage your children from using it as it is unsafe.
Thank you
It's That Time of Year Again!
Easter at Pelsall Village School would not be the same without our annual Egg Decorating Competition.
Entries can be brought into school from MONDAY 26th MARCH. Judging will take place on WEDNESDAY 28th MARCH.
As always, prizes will be given for the best entries from each class across the school.
Nursery will be holding their traditional Easter Bonnet Parade around the school on THURSDAY 29th MARCH.
As always, watch out for updates on our Gallery page ... get cracking on your designs!
Mathematicians Get Ready!
Recently, our Year 6 children completed a newspaper report explaining about the Mayor's chosen charity for this year - WPH Counselling for Teenagers.
Pelsall Village School's winning entry by Holly Walton, will be celebrated at the Commonwealth Day presentation on Monday 12th March at Walsall Town Hall.
As an added bonus, the Mayor has also accepted Mr Bagley's challenge to take on our Year 6 children in an Arithmetic Test when he visits Pelsall Village on Friday 16th March.
The Mayor has very bravely agreed to receive a paper plate filled with squirty cream in the face if any pupil beats him!
Friday will also be a non uniform day with children donating £1 to the Mayor's chosen charity.
Watch out for updates on our Gallery page for news on this super challenge...
Calling all budding Oscar nominees!
In a recent art competition held by Shires Catering Company, Pelsall Village School was the Midlands winner.
As a result, our KS2 children have been rewarded with a very special opportunity to work with professional animators to design and make their own model characters.
These will be based upon Aardman Animation Productions current cinema spectacular 'Early Man'. There may even be the possibility of the children then using them in their own animation film.
Watch out on our Gallery page for updates of what will be an amazing day!
Thursday 15 March
