This half term in Year 1, we will be learning about Easter and exploring what Easter means to Christians. We will focus on the Easter story and the important symbols linked to it.

Recognise important symbols of Easter and what they represent
Explore how Christians celebrate Easter
We will learn about symbols such as:
✝️ The cross – reminding Christians of Jesus’ death
🪨 The empty tomb – showing that Jesus came back to life
🐣 Eggs – symbolising new life
🐑 The lamb – representing peace and sacrifice
🌸 Spring flowers – representing new beginnings
Retelling stories in the correct order
Talking about beliefs with respect
Making links between symbols and their meanings
Asking thoughtful questions
Comparing Christian celebrations with our own experiences
