Autumn – CURRICULUM OVERVIEW | |
English | We are going to be exploring and writing about stories this term (one of which is Can't You Sleep, Little Bear). We are going to practice our pre cursive handwriting, and practise writing for a purpose. Our aim is to have fun and write about it. We will also explore writing and reading non fiction books and texts based on things the children are interested in. We will look at different types of poetry. |
Maths | This term we will be looking at our Learn Its and SAFEs, which allow children to work on and apply all areas of their mathematic learning. We will also focus on place value and number, learning to count, read and write numbers, comparing numbers, calculations - focusing on multiplication and division of 2s, 5s and 10s. We will look at the wider Maths subjects of fractions, position and direction, money and time. |
Science | Plants - Biology and Sustainability This term children will spend time learning about different plants and comparing their similarities and differences. They will learn about where some of their food comes from. |
Geography | Looking at weather and climate in this country and around the world. The local area in comparison to other places both in the UK and the world.. |
History | We will find out about the historical events of The Great Plague, The Fire of London and Covid 19. We will then move on to look local history. |
DT | We will find out about where certain products come from and make a chocolate mug cake. |
Art | Experiment with printing |
Computing | Parts of a computer, household technology, internet safety |
PE | Multi-skills and football |
RE | We will learn about festival around the world and their religious links. |

Spellings year 1
Spellings are in line with the rest of the school. Turn learning into a game, have fun with them. See if they can use the words in sentences. Repeated practice and use is a great way to learn them, and for your children to feel confident with them. READ, COVER, WRITE, REPEAT :)

Children's University is a great opportunity for children to engage in extra activities, and get rewarded for it. It allows you to gather the hours, and work with Wolverhampton University, and learn about further education.
