Year 1

Welcome 1T and 1/2H

1T - Mrs Tite and Miss Brennan, 1/2H - Miss Harris and Mrs Pitt

PRE LEARNING

We will be reading the story Whatever Next in English this week. Please watch the video or read the story, if you have a copy, to familiarise your child with it.

Children's University is a great opportunity for children to engage in extra activities, and get rewarded for it. It allows you to gather the hours, and work with Wolverhampton University, and learn about further education.

You will find more about CU here

Spellings year 1

Spellings are in line with the rest of the school. Turn learning into a game, have fun with them. See if they can use the words in sentences. Repeated practice and use is a great way to learn them, and for your children to feel confident with them.

Summer – CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

English

We are going to be continuing to explore stories this term (some with a space theme) and write increasingly complex sentences based on them. We are going to practice our pre cursive handwriting, and continue to write for a purpose. Our aim is to have fun and write about it. We will also be introducing non-fiction texts for the children to look at and have a go at writing.
